KULIMA – Promoting farming in Malawi

KULIMA – Promoting farming in Malawi

KULIMA stands for Kutukula Ulimi m’Malawi, meaning in the main local language, Chichewa, "promoting farming in Malawi". This programme aims to contribute to increase sustainable agricultural growth, incomes, employment and food security in Malawi while also tackling climate change. It has three main components:

  1. increase agricultural productivity and diversification by upscaling climate-smart agriculture technologies;
  2. support agricultural value chain and business development;
  3. improve agriculture sector governance.

Through these actions, KULIMA will contribute to Malawi’s goal to double the annual growth rate of its agriculture, from 1.6 % to 3 % by 2023, and to its progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals.
