Using SDGs to guide transformative changes in businesses and governments, and reach societal values

In essence, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) establishes a framework for assessing what is valuable in a society where basic level of human well-being is ensured while safeguarding the ecosystems on which all well-being depends. Agenda 2030 can be seen as ‘the world’s largest purchasing order for sustainable development’, a guide for foresighted actors to identify tomorrow’s business opportunities. In March 2019, more than 100 European CEOs have signed the call to action at the SDGSummit in Brussels for a more responsible future together. This infopoint will showcase the ‘Agenda 2030 Compass’ a ‘thinking navigator’ created by the partnership of the Swedish steel industry with the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) to support businesses and governments in developing a transformative agenda for societal value (a value that embraces planet’s sustainability) using SDG-based metrics.
