Now what? Turning policies into meaningful change for women in Africa

Now what? Turning policies into meaningful change for women in Africa

The African legal framework for the protection of women’s rights is widely recognized as ambitious. However, it is undermined in practice by gaps in its implementation and monitoring and by the fact that women’s needs, aspirations and voices are not adequately reflected when elaborating and implementing new policies and programmes. Making sure that these policies are put in place and demonstrate concrete progress for the women in Africa requires a multi-dimensional approach. Brought together by the EU Funded project the State of the African Woman Campaign, youth champions, faith organizations, feminist groups and SRHR activists in Africa will showcase complementary approaches in advancing gender equality and women empowerment in Africa.
