The European Commission's Directorate-General for International Cooperation and Development (DEVCO) launched the photo contest 'Empowering women with sustainable energy' to promote the topic of women and sustainable energy in developing countries.
We are glad to officially announce the winners of our photo contest 'Empowering Women with Sustainable Energy'. Gender equality and sustainable energy are two top priorities for the EU and are fundamental to achieve the Agenda 2030 objectives. By providing households with sustainable energy, the EU offers women more security, a healthier environment and more time to pursue economic activities.
In this context, DEVCO launched the 'Empowering Women with Sustainable Energy' photo contest, to capture moments illustrating women benefiting from sustainable energy or being involved in energy activities, as technicians or entrepreneurs.
We have received more than 200 photos from over 50 countries, the majority of very high quality. The 30 most voted by the public passed to the final jury who selected the top 10 photos.
The top 3 winners received their prize at the European Development Days in Brussels on 6 June.
We would like to thank those who participated and voted. Your contributions made the photo contest a big success. Your pictures will continue to be exhibited in future events and conferences.
