Cooperatives are people-centred enterprises owned and run by and for their members. As businesses driven by values not just profit, cooperatives share internationally agreed principles and act together to boost local inclusive economic growth. However, while cooperatives foster stability and progress in developing countries, they have a hard time attracting funds to grow. Thus, during this InfoPoint session, the cooperative movement will present the idea of a Global Cooperative Impact Fund as an answer to this need by providing long-term financing while improving the cooperative spirit. The event will focus on the importance of investing in cooperatives both looking at the evidence of success and lessons learned from current Investment Funds and looking at the future by presenting this new initiative and its socio-economic value.
