Water and sanitation

The €7.3 million top-up agreement for local communities in Bhutan will help to improve local service delivery like the provision of clean drinking water. This announcement was made by Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development Neven Mimica following his meeting with  the Prime Minister of Bhutan, Dr. Lotay Tshering in the margins of the European Development Days in Brussels.
The Overall Objective of the Action targets the specific objective of the Call for Proposals ‘to increase sanitation coverage through basic sanitation infrastructure and hygiene promotion projects, focusing on the most vulnerable and needy in poor peri-urban and urban areas, promoting behaviour change by participatory methods, and leading to improvements in health, human dignity, environment sustainability, education and socio-economic development' and reads as follows: "To increase safe access to sustainably improved ecological sanitation systems in schools in peri-urban and urban areas of
Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, Neven Mimica, and the Prime Minister of São Tomé and Príncipe, Jorge Bom Jesus, signed a top-up of €7 million in bilateral funding today, in support of people’s access to clean water and the fight against gender based violence.
The objectives pursued by the programme are to improve the quality and coverage of integrated nutrition specific and selected nutrition sensitive interventions and to increase the effectiveness of NAO services in delivering the EU-Timor-Leste development cooperation.
The objective pursued by this special measure is to support Iran in achieving sustainable economic and social development.
Following the selection process foreseen in the Annual Action Programme 2016 part IV and 2017 part I and in the Annual Action Programme 2017 part II and 2018 part I, the projects to be implemented have been selected.
Amélioration de l'approvisionnement en eau sur les épidémies de choléra et sur les maladies diarrhéiques
Ce projet met en place une gestion durable de la ressource en eau en réduisant les pertes techniques sur réseau (fuites, branchements frauduleux) et en réduisant les pertes commerciales.
Le projet PEPAM-UE a pour objectif de réduire la pauvreté durablement grâce à l'accès à l'eau et à des services d'assainissement dans les zones rurales. Il contribue également à améliorer la gouvernance du secteur de l'eau et de l'assainissement au niveau national.
The overall objective of the programme is to address the root causes of displacement and irregular migration through the creation of economic opportunities and the strengthening of the resilience capacity of the most vulnerable communities.
