In the framework of the PESCAO programme, the Sub-Regional Fisheries Commission (SRFC) organises joint operations at sea aimed at inspecting fishing vessels. Inspectors of the Eurpean Fisheries Control Agency (EFCA) participate in these operations.
Local and regional authorities’ representatives from almost 80 countries have convened at the “Cities and Regions for Development Cooperation” forum to discuss urban development challenges and ways to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals at local and regional level.
MEPE Project Phase I is a Government of Malawi project implemented with financial support from the European Union under the European Development Fund (EDF). The financial support is channeled through the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) Adjustment Facility (CAF). The CAF provides support to COMESA Fund Member States to make the necessary fiscal, economic and social adjustments that are needed for succesful regional integration.
The overall objective is to enhance the production and competitiveness of cooperatives and SME clusters in the edible oil, leather products, and textile and garment industries in the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) region and beyond.

The project aims to increase provision and consumption of sustainable tourism products to preserve the area with regards to:
assurance of private sector uptake and benefit
responsible utilisation of natural resources and
protection of cultural heritage, minorities and inclusive economic participation.
