The 2017 annual report delivers unparalleled insight into the state of the African Peace Facility- the main financial instrument to implement the African- EU peace and security cooperation.  
APF support has not only enabled the deployment of PSOs such as AMISOM in Somalia or AFISMA in Mali, but has also supported the AU Peace and Security Council (PSC), contributed to the validation of the African Standby Force, and provided quick support to mediation, confidence-building and conflict prevention.  
These portraits were collected by Welthungerhilfe and are part of a collection of stories about direct beneficiaries of the PRO-ACT project.

The WRC3 is co-organized by the European Commission (EC), the World Bank’s Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR), the UNDP, and the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States, and will be held in conjunction with European Development Days 2017. The global objective of this call for proposals is to maintain and contribute to improved access to quality basic education (pre-school, primary and lower secondary education) for children in fragile and crisis-affected environments. The specific objective of this call for proposals is to develop evidence-based models and deliver safe quality basic education for children in fragile and protracted crisis environments, contributing to building at the same time societal and institutional resilience to make these actions sustainable over time.
Commissioner Mimica took part as a key speaker at the High Level Event on the humanitarian situation in Ethiopia organised on the occasion of the African Union summit in Addis Ababa on 29 January 2017. The event was co-chaired by Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr Antonio Guterres, and the Deputy Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Mr Demeke Mekonnen.
With the support of the European Union, the 'Education Assistance to Children in Rakhine State' project contributes to improve the quality of education in Rakhine State, including the educational activities in IDP camps.
