The main objective of this project is to strengthen security in the Mopti and Gao regions and to improve the management of border areas so as to prevent irregular migration, smuggling of migrants and trafficking in human beings
The overall objective of the action is to contribute to regional stability and better management of migration by addressing the root causes of instability, forced displacement and irregular migration, increasing economic opportunities, equal opportunities, security and development.
The European Commission launched a large project in West Africa and Europe to address root causes of migration from Africa to Europe funded by the European Union Emergency Trust Fund for stability. In Europe, the project will develop vocational training programmes for 250 migrants from BurkinaFaso, Mali and The Gambia and enable at least 150 of them to return to their countries of origin to find decent employment with their newly developed skillset in collaboration with the International Organization of Migration.  
EU and ITC launch The Gambia Youth Empowerment Project to boost job creation and support long-term economic sustainability for the Gambia.
