English-speaking workshop a success in Vienna
A recent workshop for help with applications in English has proven a runaway success in Vienna, Austria.
With applications for international organisations increasingly being requested in English, a specialist English-speaking – or Englischsprachige
– workshop on grammar and style organised by EURES Vienna took place in late September.
Organised twice per year in the Austrian capital Vienna, a reservation is essential for this workshop, since demand far exceeds supply. The event is for jobseekers who have registered with their local employment office and are interested in working abroad.
A native English speaker goes though application forms and CVs with jobseekers to ensure their grammar and syntax is correct. Furthermore, jobseekers are given advice on recruitment and are coached in interview techniques in English.
Smaller groups of jobseekers at events such as this have proven to be more successful than larger groups, as each jobseeker benefits from one-to-one help from the trainer. “To ensure the quality of the workshop and to respond to each participant individually, the number of participants is limited to 15 people,” says EURES Austria Adviser, Elke Traunmüller.
In fact, the event has proven so popular, that additional workshops are being organised very soon. “Since the interest in this event is very high, this year we’ll offer an additional date in December. For 2013 we’ll probably organise this workshop three or four times,” concludes Elke.
