EURES fosters healthy partnership in Spain

When a Spanish-based recruitment agency needs to find nurses and healthcare staff for European postings it turns to the EURES network for assistance.

Baker Street International has been recruiting Spanish medical staff to work abroad since 2002. The collaboration with EURES began in 2003 when the agency attended a jobs fair in Andalucia. Since that first meeting, EURES has helped Baker Street recruit around 180 Spanish nurses and pharmacists to work in the United Kingdom and France.

Solid partnership
“EURES distributes information on our offers through its website and through the Spanish public employment service,” explains Joshua Goldblatt, Baker Street International’s Director. “We also attend as many EURES events and job fairs across Spain as we can.”

In addition, EURES provides Joshua and his team with interview and presentation facilities at its events. Now and again, EURES even screens the CVs of potential candidates, which helps the agency to pre-select candidates. The extra help is particularly valuable at the present time, since every vacancy is massively over-subscribed due to the difficult employment conditions currently faced by Spain.

“Collaborating with EURES has become a very positive and efficient way for us to recruit new staff,” says Joshua. “Working under the EURES umbrella also gives us extra legitimacy with jobseekers and employers.”

Joshua also praises the EURES network for the way it is able to deliver information about living and working conditions in different European countries. This helps candidates make informed decisions about taking work opportunities abroad, which means they are less likely to have a negative experience.
