One international recruitment agency has cooperated with EURES UK for several years. However, in the past 12 months the partnership has grown even stronger. In total, 11 jobseekers were recruited as a direct result of the cooperation.
“We’ve been using EURES since the company started three years ago, however it’s really been the last 12 months when we’ve really started engaging; and that came about from attending some UK fairs in Manchester and Glasgow and meeting the various European representatives,” says Anne Murphy, Director of Delegate International Recruitment.
The recruitment firm specialise in sourcing foreign language speakers for companies across Europe. When they were looking for multiple Norwegian speakers for a contact centre client based in Belfast, Northern Ireland, the company asked EURES UK Adviser, Lorraine Morris, for assistance.
“Delegate International Recruitment contacted EURES UK to help them fill vacancies for Norwegian speakers, as they were experiencing difficulties in finding them in the UK. I made contact initially with our colleagues at EURES Norway to organise a week-long recruitment event across several Norwegian cities, commencing in Oslo and moving onto Bergen, Stavanger, Trondheim and Tromsø. Organising events like this is a great way for employers to meet other EURES Advisers and the potential candidates,” says Lorraine.
Attending recruitment events is constructive not just for jobseekers, but for the employers as well. “It’s the personal contact and effort in travelling to see them that I think made the difference – just as it does for job seekers,” adds Anne.
The partnership between Delegate and EURES is quite important, as the call centre in Belfast operates in many different languages, highlighting the need for multilingual and mobile workers. As part of the recruitment drive, Lorraine worked with EURES Norway to organise several recruitment meetings and events.
“We have done ‘roadshows’ in-country where we have travelled to various cities, met with jobseekers and presented our portfolio of current vacancies to EURES representatives. After the visit, the promotion of the vacancies continues. In Trondheim we also had the opportunity to address a class of jobseekers who were on a fortnightly return to work advisory course,” says Anne.
This recruitment partnership has proven very successful and there are plans for it to continue.
