Europass CV: Your passport to working in Europe

So you want to work in another European country? The Europass Curriculum Vitae (CV) is just what you need to get started in your job search. With this CV you can promote your skills and competences in a standardised style and format. And what’s more, it’s completely free to use and recognised in 32 countries in Europe.

As with EURES, the Europass CV is designed to make workers’ mobility even easier and more transparent throughout Europe. EURES particularly encourages use of the CV and jobseekers can complete their CV in Europass format in the “My EURES” part of the portal, providing immediate access to potential employers.

What is Europass?
Europass is a European-wide initiative aimed at promoting the mobility of individuals throughout Europe by removing barriers to working, studying or training in Europe.
The Europass CV belongs to the Europass portfolio, which contains five documents comprising the Europass CV, the Language Passport, Europass Mobility, the Certificate Supplement and a Diploma Supplement.

All five documents in the portfolio are presented using a standard structure and layout, and are available in 27 languages. The Europass CV is currently the most downloaded and used of all Europass documents.

How else can the Europass CV help me?
The Europass CV helps you to better outline your skills and competences and improve your chances of finding a job in the Europe-wide labour market. It is used in over 32 European countries.

This standardised CV enables you to record formal as well as non-formal learning and language skills. For example, if you can answer phone calls and have a conversation in Italian, despite no formal education in the language, you can still “rate” your language ability in the self-assessment language grid in the CV.

The Europass CV is now widely used by jobseekers and employers, enabling the latter to compare candidates’ skills and competences quickly and easily. This simplifies the whole recruitment process and ultimately enables you to find a job that is better suited to your skills and needs.

Where can I find the Europass CV?

The Europass CV is available online through the Europass website. Or you can create an online Europass CV in “My EURES” as part of your job search, the advantage being that potential employers can immediately access the information you decide to include.
