We are pleased to invite you to a Citizens' Dialogue on Youth and the Future of the EU that will take place on 22 September from 13.00 to 14.45 at the hall of the Ministry of Education and Science (Munga 18).
The ongoing Estonian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the 2017 Children and Youth Year of Culture in Estonia and the start of the European Week of Sports provides the perfect occasion to discuss various issues relevant to Europe's youth. How the EU can support young people of all social and cultural backgrounds, especially through its programmes Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps? How could the links between universities, businesses and research be strengthened and what are the possibilities of EU universities in driving the economic and social development? How the European artists and creators could contribute to innovation, economic growth and new jobs by reaching new audiences and exploiting new media?
These are only some of the questions the audience can put to the European Commissioner responsible for education, culture, youth and sport, Mr Tibor Navracsics and the Rector of the University of Tartu, Mr Volli Kalm.
The discussion will be moderated by the Senior Research Fellow at the Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies of the University of Tartu, Dr Piret Ehin.
The Citizen's Dialogue will be held in English. The event is open to everyone interested in European Union matters including students, officials and representatives of business and educational institutions. Please pre-register 18 September online here: https://tinyurl.com/2017-09-22-youthdiscussion
The event will be live streamed on the Facebook page of the European Commission Representation at: https://www.facebook.com/euroopakomisjoniesindus.
Questions can be asked from anywhere through an online audience inclusion tool www.slido.com.
The discussion will be followed by a light meal.
