The Conference ‘Bringing the long-term unemployed back into work’, organised by the European Commission and ESF Transnational Platform, takes place on 27 June 2019 in Brussels at Hotel Sofitel Brussels Europe. The conference is held in English. A provisional agenda is attached below.
The conference gathers EU and national actors – including Public Employment Services, ESF Managing Authorities, civil society and social partners – to discuss effective policy to bring the long-term unemployed back into work. It presents results of the recent evaluation of the Recommendation on long-term unemployment, as well the final outcomes of the ESF Transnational Platform project on tackling long-term unemployment.
Three years on from adoption of the Recommendation on the integration of the long-term unemployed into the labour market, the Commission Report of April 2019 sheds light on progress so far, and looks at the policy responses needed to best support the return to work of the long-term unemployed - now and in the future.
The ESF Transnational Platform’s project on long-term unemployment has brought together policy and funding actors to develop good practices in participating countries on the basis of mutual learning. The project has developed support packages - tools for practitioners and policy makers to help implement measures that can better bring the long-term unemployed back into the labour market.
