The 9th meeting of the ESF Thematic Network on Youth Employment was held in Glasgow, United Kingdom, on 30th and 31st of May 2018. The purpose of the meeting was to offer a learning experience to ESF Managing Authorities and stakeholders on initiatives preventing vulnerable youth to become excluded from employment and education in Scotland. The meeting also gave learning focus to social enterprises supporting creative potentials of vulnerable youth in cultural field in Glasgow.
Guests from Glasgow City Council presented regional and ESF-supported actions targeting youth in Glasgow. Study visit was organized to the secondary school that is supporting social integration of students with care experience by involving them in the mentoring programme ‘MCR Pathways’. The participants of the meeting also had the opportunity to discuss with social entrepreneurs who are working for greater opportunities for young entrepreneurs with vulnerable backgrounds in cultural sector in Glasgow. Through a visit of the start-up collaborative (MANY Studios) in Glasgow’s neighborhood of Barras participants could witness innovative approaches to youth employment and social transformations of urban spaces.
