Rachel Marangozov, expert of the Thematic Network on migrants, attended a study visit in Helsinki organised by Eurodiaconia on 4th and 5th October. Participants visited “VAMOS” a successful example on how to use the European Social Fund (ESF) in a sustainable and long-term way for social inclusion, but also an example of how an ESF project can be complemented by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF).
The study visit explored how the Helsinki Deaconess Institute managed to use synergies between the two funds to set up a project fostering social inclusion of young migrants in Finland. It was also a platform for participants to exchange their best practices in transnational projects funded by the EU and other sources with a focus on projects targeting social inclusion of migrants in Europe. The event included visits to VAMOS facilities, expert presentations and meetings with public authorities for exchange and mutual learning.
A summary of the study visit and its conclusions will be shared here soon.
