Bulgarian project tackles food poverty

Co-financed by Fund for European Aid to the Most Deprived (FEAD), warm lunch support provides food to more than 50 000 people every day.

With an additional €19,9 million in funding from the European Union in support of overcoming the consequences of the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic (REACT-EU), the project is able to reach some of the most vulnerable people in Bulgaria – including those with disabilities and individuals over 65 years of age.

To date, food worth nearly € 1.7 million has been distributed.  FEAD support provides more than 500,000 vulnerable individuals and their families with essential food packages each year, including 82 000 people directly affected by the pandemic.
