Στις 8 Οκτωβρίου, η Ευρωπαϊκή Επιτροπή και ο ΟΟΣΑ δημοσίευσαν τα αποτελέσματα μιας γενικής έρευνας για τον αλφαβητισμό, τον αριθμητισμό και τις τεχνολογικές δεξιότητες σε 17 κράτη μέλη της ΕΕ και σε άλλες χώρες. Σε κάθε χώρα αξιολογήθηκαν τα επίπεδα δεξιοτήτων 5000 ατόμων σε ηλικία εργασίας (16-65 ετών).
