Das Projekt Kleederstuff II richtete sich an ehemalige Straftäter, Flüchtlinge, Sozialhilfeempfänger, Menschen mit geistiger Behinderung und andere hilfsbedürftige Personen. Das Projekt bestand in einem Einzelhandelsgeschäft und umfasste das Annehmen, Sortieren, Ausbessern und Personalisieren von Second-Hand-Bekleidung, um diese zu vernünftigen Preisen weiterzuverkaufen.

Es kann viele Gründe dafür geben, warum jemand Schwierigkeiten hat, eine Arbeit zu finden. Das kann an fehlenden Qualifikationen, einer Behinderung oder daran liegen, in einem Haushalt mit niedrigem Einkommen aufgewachsen zu sein. Manchmal brauchen diese Menschen aber einfach nur die Chance, das Arbeitsleben kennen zu lernen – und da kommt „Dabei“ ins Spiel. Das Projekt Dabei wurde im deutschsprachigen Belgien ins Leben gerufen und hilft arbeitslosen Menschen, ihre praktischen und sozialen Kompetenzen durch eine Reihe von Workshops unter der Leitung von erfahrenen Berufstätigen zu verbessern.

For young people, finding a job can be particularly difficult. Without experience or key skills, it can be hard to know which steps to take. You Can Do It!, a project developed by Asociace Manažerů Absolventů (AMA) and funded by the European Social Fund, was aimed at disadvantaged young Czech people aged 18 to 30 who were registered at the jobcentre but hadn’t yet decided on a career path. Each young person was offered one-to-one coaching to determine his or her interests and skill levels, followed by a series of training sessions.

It is hoped that the over-50 age group in particular, would benefit from newly-created roles across the country.

Ohjaamo centres are "one-stop guidance shops” for people under the age of 30. The Ohjaamo centre in Helsinki is co-founded by five City of Helsinki government departments and the Uusimaa regional Public Employment Services. Developed based on experiences from a previous ESF-funded project, Ohjaamo focuses on employment and career guidance, but also offers advice about everything from finances to health and relationships.

A project developed by the Slovenian Book Agency aims to help disadvantaged people to integrate into society – and eventually into employment – by offering a range of workshops with a creative, cultural emphasis. Include and Activate! is aimed at people with mental health disorders and disabilities, prison inmates who are scheduled for release, and people who are undergoing drug rehabilitation.

Ende 2015 gab es mehr als 90.000 Asylbewerberinnen und -bewerber in Österreich – vor allem aus dem Kriegsgebiet Syrien und auch Afghanistan. Einen sicheren Arbeitsplatz zu finden, ist für Personen, die sich um Integration in einem neuen Land bemühen, eines der wichtigsten Dinge. Daher entwickelte die Caritas Vorarlberg, die zur internationalen Caritas-Organisation gehört, das Projekt „Start2Work“. Den TeilnehmerInnen wird ein 10 Wochen dauernder, intensiver Deutsch-Kurs geboten, auf den Einzel- und Gruppencoachings folgen sowie die Möglichkeit, ein Praktikum zu ergreifen.

Poland’s Voluntary Labour Corps (VLC), with the help of ESF funding, has developed Equal in the Labour Market. It offers young people who are not in education, employment or training an intensive programme of support to get onto the labour ladder. The project aims to tackle unemployment levels among young people in Poland, which are very high, as in the rest of Europe. The barriers young people face include lack of experience, difficulties transitioning from school, and inadequate "soft" skills – things like teamwork, time management, positive thinking and a flexible attitude.
