The European Commission visited the Centre of Information Technologies in Education (CITE) in Vilnius, Lithuania

The European Commission visited the Centre of Information Technologies in Education (CITE) in Vilnius, Lithuania on Monday 4 December 2017. Part of the mission of CITE is to collect, store and structure data on qualifications from data providers across the country.

The aim of the visit was to support CITE with the creation of the Lithuanian national qualifications database so that it can be uploaded to the Learning Opportunities in Europe Portal and in the ESCO qualifications pillar.

The Lithuanian team included Egidijus Čeponis and Genovaitė Kežytė from CITE, Lina Vaitkutė, Lina Lukošiūnienė, Rūta Karvelytė from the Vocational Education and Training Development Centre, and Rasa Penkauskienė from the Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education.

The Commission presented the ESCO classification and its features, in particular focusing on how they plan to populate the qualifications pillar and how this can support not only education and training institutions but also learners and jobseekers in the long run.

The meeting hosts presented their activities and their plans to complete their national qualifications database in compliance with the Qualifications Metadata Schema.

The team from the Commission supported the Lithuanian counterparts with technical knowledge and advice.
