On behalf of the ESCO Secretariat, Angeliki Dedopoulou, coordinator of the media sector in ESCO, presented ESCO at the 14th Human Resources Assembly #EBUHR2016 of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
Human Resources managers of the public radio and television of various European countries including Switzerland, Belgium, Cyprus, Hungary, Portugal, Croatia and the Czech Republic participated in the Assembly.
Ms Dedopoulou and the Head of Human Resources of EBU Mr. Frode Hvaring facilitated two workshops. During each workshop the participants were split in two teams and used the ESCO occupational profiles to match them with job vacancies. Despite the fact that the two groups used different methodologies to do the matching of skills to job vacancies they ended up with almost the same results. The main finding of the workshop was that HR managers could use the ESCO essential and optional skills to create job vacancies and identify the right candidate for the right job. The benefits for them will be huge, taking into consideration that ESCO after its release will be available in 24 languages.
The ESCO Secretariat is looking forward to future dialogue and cooperation with EBU to explore how a new skills catalogue for the media sector that is based on the ESCO skills can be a useful guidance for all of its members.
