ESCO, the multilingual classification of European Skills, Competences, Qualifications and Occupations, has been published on the European Union Open Data Portal.
Launched in December 2012 in beta mode, the Open Data Portal was formally established by Commission Decision of 12 December 2011. It is a key element of EU open data strategy and builds on open source solutions.
The main purpose of Open Data Portal is to provide an easy access to EU Data. The portal gathers data that is produced by the institutions and other bodies of the European Union. The data covers various domains such as economy, employment, science, environment and education.
The datasets can be used for example in research, for building applications or drafting articles. Most data are free to use, reuse, link and redistribute for commercial or non-commercial purposes. Specific conditions on reuse apply for a very limited amount of data and are mostly related to the protection of third-party intellectual property rights.
