The first meeting of the new ESCO Board was held on 16 September 2014 in Brussels. Organised by the Commission, the first meeting consisted of a half a day information session on the previous day, followed by the regular ESCO Board meeting. Mr Jeremy Groombridge and Mr Peter Thiele have been confirmed unanimously in their role as chair and vice chair to the ESCO Board and were re-appointed for the duration of the second ESCO Board term.
The ESCO Secretariat invited the seven new board members to a half day information session on the ESCO project and the role of the ESCO Board. The information session closed with a demo on competence-based job matching in practice. The demo was presented by Ms Gerd Goetschalckx of VDAB, and Mr Alain Dupuch of Pôle emploi, both members of the ESCO Maintenance Committee.
The ESCO Board meeting itself was mainly dedicated to first discussions on the mid to long term vision for the ESCO project and its translation into a comprehensive communication strategy. During the discussion, the ESCO Board provided advice to the EU Commission on the work program of the ESCO Board for this term, the communications strategy as well as the scope of the ESCO conference to be organised in mid-2015. The agenda, key supporting documents and presentations for the meeting can be consulted in the ESCOpedia article about the 12th ESCO Board meeting. When endorsed, the minutes of the meeting will be published on this page as well.
