Textkernel is an Amsterdam-based leader in the fields of artificial intelligence, machine learning and semantic technology for matching people and jobs. Founded in 2001, Textkernel employs over 140 people, mainly experts in language technology and software engineering.

The company accelerates and improves the process of matching people and jobs, creating efficiencies in the recruitment process with AI-powered solutions. These include multilingual CV and job vacancy parsing, semantic search, bi-directional matching, lead generation and labour market analytics. Such tools are mainly used by software vendors, employers, recruitment and staffing agencies, job boards, and outplacement or labour market research agencies.

Textkernel's software and services are powered by state-of-the-art machine learning technology combined with the company’s own HR and Recruiting Domain Ontology (among others, like ESCO). This defines concepts and relations about Professions, Skills, Education, Companies and other relevant information. And, since the company’s ontology is interlinked to external knowledge graphs and taxonomies like ESCO, it allows semantic interoperability between those systems.

Textkernel was the first HR technology vendor to support ESCO in its products. The company also started using ESCO as an addition to its own ontology for lesser resource languages. By combining ESCO concepts with semantic technology, Textkernel is able to offer job and candidate search in a range of additional languages.

Furthermore, Textkernel uses ESCO as background knowledge and training data for ontology mining to enrich its own knowledge resources. This results in substantially more effective semantic CV and job vacancy parsing and matching technology. As an active ESCO ontology user, Textkernel is committed to providing feedback to the ESCO project regarding the structure and content, quality, perceived customer value and future development directions.
