EURES is the network of European employment services. The purpose of EURES is to provide information, advice and recruitment and placement services for workers and employers wishing to benefit from the principle of the free movement of persons.

EURES consists of a human network of more than 850 EURES advisers that are in daily contact with jobseekers and employers across Europe and an online portal. The EURES Job Mobility Portal hosts more than one million job vacancies from all over Europe. It helps those who wish to find a job abroad and offers European employers a variety of services and information covering every aspect of recruiting from other European countries. EURES also offers its services on mobile platforms through its app, which can be downloaded for free.

Common IT platform

Regulation 2016/589/EU modernises the EURES network and establishes a common IT platform to increase interoperability and allow a better matching of people to jobs across borders.

Art. 19 of the Regulation stipulates that the Commission develops a European classification for this purpose. The Commission shall adopt and update, by means of implementing acts, the list of the European classification. With ESCO the Commission is developing such a classification.

Once an implementing act is adopted, Member States have up to three years to adopt the European classification or to map to it for the purpose of the common IT platform.
