The 2017 European Vocational Skills Week may have passed but the campaign to promote vocational education and training (VET) is still ongoing! The exciting online exhibition of success stories can be explored to inspire learners across Europe to understand the importance of VET, which can take different forms and routes. It covers a vast range of skills from designing clothes to developing apps. VET offers the chance for learners to turn a creative skill or hobby into a thriving career. For example, Erasmus+ and European Social Fund (ESF) help thousands of people to transform their lives though VET.
From these fantastic experiences, the online exhibition allows you to browse real life stories from a selection of inspiring EU projects. You can see the impact of VET on learners from many diverse backgrounds. Learn how vocational training, supported by ESF funding, helped George to bring his plumbing, carpentry, welding and electrical skills up-to-date. Discover how an Erasmus+ vocational traineeship helped Katja from Luxembourg to embrace a new country, language and culture. Read about Jane, from Denmark, who decided to retrain and embrace a new career in her mid-fifties.
However, that’s not all. The European Vocational Skills Week campaign is allowing you to share your very own success stories! Tell your story about VET and you could help to inspire others. Your success story will give other learners the potential to understand the opportunities offered to them through VET. For example, you could write about an apprenticeship that helped you gain your first professional experience in work or a training course that gave you a chance to gain vital new skills. Stories don’t need to be any longer than 200 words and you can even include images, videos and social media details to promote your success.
Finally, if you’re looking for some fun, enter the European Vocational Skills Week exhibition quiz. Read about the stories from the online exhibition and then all you have to do is answer just 15 multiple-choice questions. If you get over 50% of the questions correct, you’ll be in with a chance of getting your hands on exclusive prizes! The competition closes on the 12.12.2017 (23.59 CEST).
