The Impact and Experiences of Delivering a Programme using TBL

Team-Based Learning (TBL) is a learner-centred structured approach to the ‘flipped’ classroom designed to engage students through a process of preparation, assessment and application of knowledge. It shifts the focus of classroom time from conveying course concepts by the teacher to the application of course concepts by student learning teams.

This interactive workshop will introduce participants to TBL, allowing them to experience it as a student would. Attendees will learn in teams and encounter a ‘Readiness Assurance Process’ and a number of application exercises designed to explore the benefits and challenges of large scale implementation. There will also be practical demonstrations of how TBL develops assessment ‘as’ and ‘for’ learning.

This workshop will be presented by Dr Simon Tweddell Senior Lecturer, University of Bradford and Rebecca McCarter,Educational Development Consultant, University of Bradford.

The Impact and Experiences of Delivering a Programme using Team-Based Learning is organised by the National Foum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education.  The workshop will be taking place on Tuesday 4th June between 10am and 1pm in the Athlone Institute of Technology.
