Professional development of staff

The OSCE Mission to Skopje and the Ministry for Labor and Social Policy work on promoting women’s leadership in public sector through implementation of a 'Women for Women in the Public Sector – A Mentoring Initiative' for a selected number of central level institutions. The Programme is designed to help women employed in the public administration of North Macedonia to recognize and overcome obstacles in the working place resulting from gender stereotypes and prejudices, and to identify opportunities for their professional development.

In 2017 Secondary grammar school Gymnazium Broumov (the Czech Republic) successfully applied for the grant for a two-year project Erasmus Plus, KA1 (2017-1-CZ01-KA101-034539). Four teachers of English had a unique opportunity to take part in Erasmus+ teacher training courses in Great Britain and Malta. During six stays for two weeks the participants focussed on professional development activities using ICT, creative methods and CLIL.

Teachers from Adult Education Centers of Balıkesir Province visited Prague for ERASMUS + KA1 Courses.

We, as teachers of different towns of Balıkesir province,  had an invitation to take Soft Skills Course in Prague and accepted it with pleasure.

Our flight was to Prague on 24th March from Istanbul. After 2 and half hour, we landed in and transferred to the Hotel Belvedere that we accomodated peacefully and conveniently. Staff were welcoming and smiling faced.

 

Director of the DVV International - Country Office Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr. Emir Avdagić held a meeting with the newly appointed Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Sarajevo Canton, Ms mr. Zineta Bogunić and the Assistant Minister for Secondary Education and Adult Education, Ms Lamija Husić.

The meeting was organised as a preparation for upcoming activities in improving adult education in Sarajevo Canton, and some of the key topics of discussion were:

When working with adults, a lot of expertise usually emerges in the group and a skilful trainer can use this expertise to support learning in the group. The most optimal environment for this to succeed is a group with a trusting atmosphere and a good team spirit.

"For a longer time already, I had been thinking that I would like to participate in training that would give me a comprehensive overview of what the European adult education consists of. I was of course already aware of the basic facts and situation but, in the back of my head, I still had this idea that it could be interesting to delve more deeply into this by sharing practical experiences with course participants from different European countries."

The goal of the course was to increase the understanding of emotional intelligence and improve coaching skills for situations in which we are teaching, motivating and interacting with others. The course was based on the theory of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming). NLP is a model of how the brain works: how we learn, think, communicate, make decisions and find motivation and how to achieve changes that we want.

What does people leadership look like today and tomorrow? How do you inspire employees and commit them to the routines and community of an educational institution if you can’t resort to the financial incentives used in business life? How can we, as supervisors, lead and act to ensure that all members of the work community can take part in development and how can we bring about an inspiring atmosphere at work?

My goal was to get to exchange experiences with colleagues around Europe. As an adult education trainer from KSL Study Centre, I also wanted to improve myself and get new perspective to the main topic of the course: Communication Skills and Public Speaking.

The Corporate Learning Tool is a free, online tool aiming to improve the competiveness of European Academic Spin-Offs and Start-ups by supporting them to effectively deal with the challenges faced when internationalising their businesses and to improve their global talent management. The Handbook on Transnational Entrepreneurship and Effective Internationalization Strategies for Spin Offs (pdf version available here bellow) is the off-line (downloadable) version of the training programme.

The two resources were gathered by Focus Groups as part of the DIGIT project. The target groups (adult educators, adults and other relevant stakeholders such as digital experts and public body representatives) were brought together to discuss the issues, dangers and opportunities of the digital world. The Focus groups results were illustrated by an infographic and one of the results of the Manifesto is a one-page document comprising 20 useful tips for becoming a responsible digital user and citizen.

The journal „Adult Education“ has been published in Bosnia and Herzegovina since 2001 and it is the only printed publication treating issues such as education, learning and training of adults in terms of lifelong learning.

Learning in the flow of work is a new idea: it recognizes that for learning to really happen, it must fit around and align itself to working days and working lives. Rather than think of corporate learning as a destination, it’s now becoming something that comes to us. 

Through good design thinking and cutting-edge technology, we can build solutions and experiences that make learning almost invisible in our jobs. One could argue that Google and YouTube are two of the earliest “learning in the flow” platforms, which we now take for granted.

The transfer of knowledge between science and practice is an important matter for the European economy. Research institutes, by their scientific work, have an important role in the development of the agricultural sector. Crucial for effective use of knowledge is communication between scientific and agricultural domains. Despite constant efforts and care of quality level in knowledge transfer, there are still obstacles and problems encountered.

IPA+ (Inclusion of people with autism in Europe. Towards a specialized training model for professionals) is a project funded under the Erasmus+ Programme (ref: 2016-1-ES01-KA204-025061) aimed to develop a training for all professionals working with people with autism independently of the area of knowledge. In the framework of this project we have developed and created several materials and resources useful for professionals working in the field of autism.
"Creativity development in adult education" is 24 months Nordplus project with an aim to develop training tool for adult trainers. The main project approach is targeted through non-formal learning activities, which aim at enhancing the creativity skills and competences of adult education trainers and learners.

The professionalisation has been one of the key problems of that adult education for a long time. A lot of achievements have been made in other areas of adult education, but far less in professionalisation – a clear identification of the staff working in this area is still missing. This paper analyzes the importance of the process of professionalization of adult education, the achievements (especially in Germany), the key problems and obstacles, but also a need for more intensiv scientific and professional engagement, as well as for clear and consequent solutions.
