Huseyin Husnu Tekisik Guidance and Research Center is a government institution under the Ministry of National Education. Our institution is composed of two main departments as Special Education Department and Psychological Counseling Department. In the scope of these two departments;
Special Needs Teachers and Psychological Counselors identify the abilities and the needs of the people of all ages from 0 to 99 and make individualized educational programmes for those examined in our institution to support their educational, psychological and social needs.
We are also responsible for development of School Counselors and Special Needs Teachers and families in our district.
Our target population is people of all ages with special needs, students who need psychological support, parents and teachers in our district.
We organize seminars and group work, provide psychological support for students and families.
We make different ability and intelligence tests to identify people with special needs and place them to the appropriate schools according to their educational needs.
We have already conducted a development agency project named "Strengthening Support Rooms for Special Needs Students" with 155.849,00 TL budget between the dates of 01.09.2015 and 01.05.2016. With this project 15 support rooms for 200 special needs students have been opened and donated with necessary materials, and 72 teachers have been educated about mind games for special needs students.
We apply for Cooperation for Innovation and the Exchange of Good Practices/ Strategic Partnership for Adult Education/ as Applicant Organization and we are searching for Partner Organizations for our project. Our Project is about lifelong learning of adults with special needs. As an institution we place adults with special needs to different adult education courses specialized for adults for special needs like ceramic, athletics, making mold baby course, music and voice training, making accessories with waste paper and various trash, traditional Turkish dress accessories, knitting and jewelry design, folk dance, making souvenirs and plain weave. This institution providing education for special needs adults can be seen as an innovation in Turkish educational system. And we, as an institution placing these adults to these courses, have developed a form to discover interests and talents of adults with special needs.
We are looking for partner organizations in the area of adult special education willing to collaborate with us in order to learn from each other and open new paths for educational improvement.
