Electronic Platform for Adult Learning in Europe

Open IT up - Boosting Adult Educators' Competences to Upskill Pathways of Adult Learners

Language: EN

After the great success of the Erasmus+ project “Open the Door to Europe”- -, finalised in 2016, which aimed at strengthening language competences and the entrepreneurial skills of adult learners, the partnership –together with two more organisations who have joined the team- decided to move on a step further an develop an even more challenging project aiming to equip adult learners with more advanced language skills and the competences that are needed to turn their business ideas into successful Start-ups.

The ‘Open IT up’ project, a 30-month Erasmus+ KA204 funded project (n. 2017-1-ES01-KA204-038085) was launched with the aim to extend and develop educators' competences in the effective teaching of foreign languages, digital and entrepreneurial skills to vulnerable groups of adult learners, by making use of effective new tools and technologies.

It is an opportunity for both educators and adult learners to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to be self-employed, a very challenging goal that seems an almost impossible without basic skills, such as literacy and -in the world of global digitalization - digital skills as well as basic knowledge of entrepreneurship concepts.

Among the main products and intellectual outputs that are going to be developed under this project, the partners have already made available for all on the open platform - - an E-course “Start Your Own Business” in English, Bulgarian, German, Greek, Italian, Spanish, Polish and Turkish (both for educators and learners). This course counts with three different sections: ‘Focus on Business’, ‘Focus on Language’, and ‘Focus on your Idea’,  which, combined, will help adults improve their language skills, digital literacy get basic and essential knowledge of entrepreneurship concepts.

During the upcoming months, partners will focus on the development of videos about Start-ups in Europe, to provide practical and illustrative examples about how the ideas of individuals can be transformed into businesses.
