Annual convention of Mayoral advisors on Gender Equality. EPALE presented for future cooperation

The Union of Local Authorities in Israel, in cooperation with the Ministry for Social Equality in the Parliament, and the Union of Mayoral Advisors on the Status of Women in Israel held an international conference in Jerusalem on the subject of Lifelong Learning and Employment - Global and Local trends. The conference included counselors for the status of women from local authorities in Israel, from all sectors and religions: Jewish, Arab, Druze, Bedouin, Circassian, ultra-Orthodox, periphery and center authorities Mayoral Advisors on the Status of Women in Israel are appointed by law in the State of Israel, which requires every Mayor and head of a local authority to appoint an advisor who will be responsible for formulating a policy to promote the status of women and gender equality within the authority and among residents of the city.

The conference was attended by directors-general of various government ministries, heads of national organizations, experts and academics on learning and employment. The conference hosted two guests from Italy, who were specially invited to share their knowledge and experience in Italy and Europe and to explore future possibilities for cooperation. The guests were Professor Pina Raso from the University of LiberEta, Ambassador to the EPALE platform, and Ketty Segatti, Vice director of Education, Training and Research Area of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and the Managing Authority of the 2014-2020 European Social Fund Program. Mrs. Raso and Mrs. Segatti actively participated in all three days of the conference, in all academic sessions and also in the networking activity between the counselors from the different sectors. The guests presented the Best Practices in Udine and the University of LiberEta and within the Regional councilor of Education in Trieste and shared their experience and actions to promote Gender Equality, Lifelong Learning and Employability. In the joint discussions it was agreed to continue the mutual cooperation of Israel and Italy on the subject of Lifelong Learning and Employment in the context of the multicultural and diversified society in these countries, and the desire to strengthen cohesion and social inclusion in the various sectors.
