Radio Interview: An Cosán's ‘Young Women’s Education Programme’ – #OneGenerationSolution

by Laura Austen-Gray
Language: EN

On the 4th of March An Cosán VCC's new Young Women in Education programme, sponsored by J. P. Morgan, was launch by Minister Katherine Zappone.

Prior to her political career, Minister Zappone and her late partner Dr. Ann Louise Gilligan co-founded the 'The Shanty' which grew into An Cosán, a community education centre that has served the community of Tallaght West for over thirty years. An Cosán provides a wide variety of educational programmes for all age groups, including early years education and care, and community education, to empower through education and support social transformation. The social enterprise An Cosán Virtual Community College (VCC) was developed to up-scale An Cosán's work.

The programme, 'Business Administration and Digital Skills for Work' (NQF Level 5), is aimed at single mothers who left school early and the event coincide with the week of  International Women’s Day. It is part of An Cosán's work to bring about a #OneGenrationSolution, closing the social divide one woman - and hence one family - at a time.

Liz Waters, C.E.O of An Cosán, joins Adrianne Murphy on the radio programme Northside Today to discuss ‘Young Womens’s Education Programme’. You can listen to the interview here

The programme is currently taking expressions of interest and to register your – or your leaner's - interest please contact Bess on b.mcbride@ancosan.com
