Marmora's Warbler
Sylvia sarda

Map of the common names

A small bird (L 13 cm), usually looks rather uniform grey with long tail and markedly long bill. Common mainly in dry maquis near coast and on mountain slopes up to 900 m. Feeds on insects and spiders. The subspecies S. s. sarda (France and Italy) is migrant and the subspecies S. s. balearica (Spain) is sedentary.

Reasons for the need for protection/inclusion in annex I
The EU population is locally common. The main threats to the species are the loss and destruction of its habitat as a result of urban development, afforestation and the abandonment of traditional livestock-grazing.
