Carbon footprint reduction of 20% by 2020

The carbon footprint was established according to the internationally recognized Greenhouse Gas Protocol. Based on the results of the company's carbon footprint of three consecutive years (2008, 2009 & 2010), Colruyt Group made up an amibitious reduction plan. The goal is to reduce the Scope 1 & 2 (GHG Protocol) carbon footprint with twenty percent between 2008 and 2020, in a relative way (i.e. in tonnes CO2eq. / M€-turnover).

The reduction plan is primarily focused on the domains that have the biggest contribution to the carbon footprint, namely cooling, heating and transport (of persons and products).
