PROJECT “BUON FINE” – AVOIDING FOOD WASTE
Cooperatives, since 2003, has promoted the ‘Buon fine’ project which aims to recover still edible, unsold food products, and donate them to charities and people in need. The majority of associations in the projects involved belongs to the civic or religious volunteer associations. This project, carried out on a national level, is managed locally by the Cooperatives. Products used in this project are: fresh food (vegetables, fruits, meats and dairy products); packaged foods (pasta, rice, canned food, biscuits, cereals, snacks, etc); childhood (baby food, diapers), liquids (all drinks except spirits). Some cooperatives also give even non-food products such as pharmaceutical medicines, home products, seasonal goods, personal higiene, or multimedia.
