European Green Capital 2020 Applicant Workshop, 27th June 2017, Brussels

As we get closer to announcing the European Green Capital 2019, we are also looking ahead to the next cycle of the competition for the 2020 award. An Applicant Workshop for the European Green Capital 2020 Award will take place on the 27th of June 2017 in Brussels.

It will start off with a welcome from Claudia Fusco, Head of Environmental Knowledge, Eco-Innovation and SMEs Unit, DG Environment, European Commission. The Workshop will then provide cities with an overview of the 2020 Evaluation and Assessment Process along with advice and tips from a member of the Expert Panel on how to impress the experts in the evaluation process.

The Workshop will include a session on communications, including presenting to the Jury, branding rules and how to communicate during the year as European Green Capital.

Workshop attendees will also hear from previous winners: Essen, current European Green Capital; and 2018 winner, Nijmegen. Nijmegen and Essen will give insight into how their cities built their programmes for their respective years as European Green Capital and the benefits gained from holding the title.

The workshop will include Questions and Answers sessions, giving cities a valuable opportunity to have their queries answered from experts and past winners. The full Workshop Agenda is available here.

Interpretations in English, German, French, Spanish and Italian will be offered in the workshop.

A livestream of the applicant workshop will be available for those unable to attend. The workshop will be streamed here on the 27th June and a recording of the event will be available at the same location after this date.

Presentations for previous Applicant Workshops and further information on registration can be found here.
