EMAS Newsletter – Issue 02 / June 2015

Dear EMAS Community,

Spring is a time for renewed energy and fresh growth. Just as the trees and fields are turning green, we can think about how to make our actions, services and processes greener. This issue gives special attention to the achievements of some of our greatest frontrunners.

Several events are taking place over this period that all have one thing in common: they are celebrating the accomplishments of dedicated members from our EMAS community. Annual EMAS Conferences are taking place in Berlin, Vienna and Milan. The Annual EU EMAS Awards ceremony also took place on 20 May in Barcelona, as part of the 18th Forum on Eco-Innovation.

The 10th EMAS Awards focused on effective eco-innovation supporting improvements in environmental performance. The Awards jury selected the winners for each of the six categories out of 22 excellent nominees from 9 Member States. Awardees from Austria, Germany, Italy, Poland and Spain were called on stage to collect their trophies and certificates. These EMAS Award winners demonstrate what the circular economy is all about. We can salute their vision, commitment and results. They should serve as an example to others looking to do business in the sustainable, low-carbon economy of the future.

The EMAS Helpdesk has produced a video highlighting how EMAS can bridge business opportunities and environmental performance for participating organisations. The small and large organisations that feature in this video all demonstrate that being EMAS registered can save resources and money. EMAS also helps registered organisations to have lower environmental impacts and to become legally compliant. I am proud that we are able to showcase the achievements of these frontrunners on our EMAS video page and invite you to have a look at them. Watch out for our coming campaigns, you might be one of our next #EMASperformers!

Enjoy the read!
