EMAS in numbers

New statistics on EMAS registrations available

Despite the COVID 19 crisis, the numbers of EMAS registrations continue to rise, showing a real interest in the EMAS scheme. 49 new organisations joined the EMAS family between June 2021 and October 2021, representing growth rates of 1,3%. We are happy to welcome the new members in the network!

The majority of registrations of new organisations are from Slovakia (15), Spain (11), Italy (6), Austria (5), Germany (4) and Estonia (3). The majority of new sites were registered in Slovakia (25), Germany (21), Austria (14), Spain (11).

The number of registered sites has been declining for some time. Since June 2021, there has been a significant decline in registered sites. Of the registered sites, 729 have withdrawn their registration, representing an overall decrease of 6.1%.

The following industries, with their respective NACE codes, recorded the greatest growth since June 2021: Specialised construction activities (NACE Code 43), waste collection, treatment and disposal (NACE Code 38), and manufacture of fabricated metal products (except for machinery and equipment) (NACE Code 25). These are also representing the leading sectors in the EMAS scheme, counting the highest total number of registrations.
