Verification Bodies

What is a Verification Body?

A Verification Body (VB) is an independent organisation which is tasked to review and verify the claims proposed by the technology manufacturer in an objective and impartial manner.

Each VB must first be accredited by their National Accreditation body. This process ensures that the VB fulfil the requirements of ISO 17020 to perform verifications under the EU ETV Programme and that they comply to the requirements specified in the General Verification Protocol document (GVP). Each Verification Body is accredited for at least one subset of the specific technological areas: "Water Treatment and Monitoring", "Energy Technologies" or "Materials, Waste and Resources".

How does my organisation become a Verification Body for ETV?

Organisations interested to become Verification Bodies should first contact their national accreditation body, whose contact details can be found on the webpage of the European Co-operation for Accreditation.

Through the national accreditation body, the prospective VBs must undergo an accreditation procedure in order to prove their technical competence and their quality requirements to perform verifications for the ETV Programme.
