ECO-INNOVATIONat the heart of European policies
Small wastewater treatment systems that are CE marked must follow the harmonised standards of the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN), particularly standard 12566-3 and 12566-6. These standards ensure coverage of small wastewater treatment systems in permanent residencies, where an absence of incoming wastewater to the system of up to two weeks is considered.
However, for residencies such as summerhouses, which are likely to have an absence of incoming wastewater of longer than 2 weeks, small wastewater treatment systems cannot accord to these CEN standards. A solution can be found in ETV-verified BioKube: a technology that continuously nourishes the bacteria in wastewater systems during periods when there is no supply of wastewater to these systems, e.g. during the off-season (October –April) in summer cottages. This technology will continually fulfil the wastewater outlet requirements needed to maintain the treatment system, meanwhile ensuring adherence to the CEN harmonised standards.
