European Database Export Import of Dangerous Chemicals

To improve the procedure and to provide both the Commission and the Designated National Authorities (DNA's) with all necessary information to implement Council Regulation (EC) 689/2008, the Commission has developed the database EDEXIM, a uniform database including electronic transfer facilities.

This database is fundamental for the smooth implementation of the Regulation, particularly as regards the export notification procedure and the explicit consent procedure.

Currently there are five versions: one adapted for the use of the Commission, another for the DNAs of Member States, two enterprise versions (one for the exporters, one for DNAs), and a non-confidential, “information” version available to industry, interested organisations and the general public as well as DNAs in third countries. The Commission services are now developing a customs version in order to facilitate compliance with the requirements of Regulation (EC) 689/2008.
