Meet the EBAE Finalists 2020-2021: 16 companies in the running to become Europe’s champions of eco-innovation

For the current edition of the European Business Awards for the Environment, we proudly received 94 applications from 16 different countries. Click here to see the full list of EBAE Nominees 2020-2021.

Following the EBAE Jury meeting of 23-24 June, 16 companies from nine European countries have been shortlisted for the European Business Awards for the Environment (EBAE), the EU scheme celebrating those businesses leading the transition to a sustainable economy. In addition, 12 companies have been identified as the *“Rising Stars” of the European sustainable business scene.

All these companies have in common a respect for the environment at the very core of their business principles.

The Finalists are up for six awards: Management (micro and small companies); Management (medium and large companies); Product & Services; Process; Developing Country Cooperation; and Business & Biodiversity.

They were selected out of 94 applications received from 16 different countries.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in Brussels in November 2020.

*Rising Stars = companies whose applications have made a particular impression on the jurors but were not shortlisted for an award.

Meet the Winners 2018-2019


Seven companies from six different countries have been announced as winners of the 2018-2019 European Business Awards for the Environment.

The Award Ceremony took place on 14 November 2018 in Vienna (Austria).

New to EBAE?

The European Business Awards for the Environment (EBAE) celebrate companies at the forefront of eco-innovation, or that have a respect for the environment at the very core of their business principles.

The competition includes six awards:

  1. Management: Micro & Small Companies
  2. Management: Medium & Large Companies
  3. Product & Services
  4. Process
  5. Developing Country Cooperation
  6. Business & Biodiversity


Companies wishing to enter the European competition should take part in (and possibly win!) their national competitions. National Coordinators are active in several countries to provide further information and assist through the application process. Eligibility rules and info about how to apply are available here.
