| Recycling and Global warming | Recycling is one of the ways to reduce global warming. Think about the meaning of "recycling" and about the reasons for global warming. What is the relationship between the two concepts? |
| Renewable energy | Find out about alternative sources of energy such as solar, wind and wave power. How do they work? Investigate their use in your country and go and visit one of them. |
| Reducing air pollution in the city | What initiatives have been taken in the town or city nearest to your home, or which you know about in order to reduce air pollution? (e.g. banning cars from city centres, ecological days etc.). |
| Climate change | 1. "Once upon a time there were four seasons, Winter - Spring - Summer - Autumn. The Winter was really, really cold and ...". Organise an interview with your grandparents and/or your grandparents' friends, on what the climate was like in the different seasons when they were young. Do the same interview with your parents and your parents' friends. Now answer the same questions yourself. Then try and compare the descriptions you've gathered. Draw a graph of the climatic changes in your country over the past 100 years. What has changed and to what extent? If the same trend continues, what do you think will happen in another 100 years? 2. Talk with your family and friends about global warming. Let them know what you've learned. 3. Climatic changes often lead to the disappearance of some species of animals or plants, or, for the animals, to their migration. Find out whether this is happening in your region too. What can we do to protect these species and to prevent them from becoming extinct? |
| Air pollution | You too can be aware of the purity of the air in your town or city, by looking around for the existence of lichen, which can't tolerate the presence of noxious substances in the air, or if you live in the country by observing whether or not there are any bees around. |

Projects |
| Greenhouse effect and acid rain | Prepare a presentation of the greenhouse effect and acid rain as if you were going to describe it to young children. |
| Reducing air pollution in the city | Try to think personally about what steps can be taken at the national, regional, and city scale, and as regards individual people (e.g. use of public transport, bicycles, catalytic converters and trams etc.). |
