Oceans is a 2009 French nature documentary film directed and produced by Jacques Perrin.
The film was released in European movie theatres in January 2010 and distributed in the United States by Disneynature for Earth Day.
The film explores the Earth's five oceans. Budgeted at 50 million Euros, most of the documentary was filmed directly on the sea from boats, submarines and scuba-diving, showing marine life in their natural environment. Shots were taken in over 50 different places and it took four years in total to finish.
The movie reflects on the need to respect nature and demonstrates the pressures on the marine environment resulting from human acitivities.
