Dr. Ilham Kadri is the General Manager of the Dow Advanced Materials Division for the Middle East and Africa. Dow Advanced Materials is the world’s largest specialty materials provider, addressing a diverse range of high-growth end markets. Dr. Kadri is also the Europe, Middle East and Africa Commercial Director for Dow Water & Process Solutions, the global leader in sustainable separation and purification technology.

In her role leading Advanced Materials, she is responsible for driving the development of the division and building the necessary infrastructure of its business units throughout the region. In 2011, she doubled resources on the ground to support business growth, and secured a multi-million dollar investment for a new Specialty Coatings and Construction manufacturing site in the UAE, the first of its kind anywhere in the region.

As the Commercial Director for Dow Water & Process Solutions, Dr. Kadri is responsible for driving the business unit’s commercial activities and regional strategy. In 2011, she led and announced a strategic investment in a FILMTEC™ Reverse Osmosis (RO) membranes facility in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The facility will deliver the best available water treatment technology for domestic markets as well as export to global markets.

Dr. Kadri joined Dow in 2010 as a Marketing Director for Dow Coating Materials, after the acquisition of specialty chemicals company Rohm and Haas. At Rohm and Haas, Dr. Kadri served as the Marketing Director for the Architectural, Industrial, and Construction business units in the EMEA region.

Throughout her career in public and private companies such as Huntsman, UCB-Cytec and Shell Chemicals – Basell, Dr. Kadri has held a variety of global roles in Business Leadership, Sales and Marketing and Research & Development. At Dow, she brings to bear her strong leadership skills and international market knowledge, based on a decade of overseeing innovation process design, changing the game in commodity markets, and leading management change.

Dr. Kadri is the author of a PhD thesis and a commercial patent, and the co-author of several industrial and scientific papers. She has won multiple automotive business platform awards, and was awarded for her participation in the Dow and Rohm & Haas merger integration. Dr. Kadri is a recognized mentor to high potential employees both within Dow and externally, and a change mentor in the community.

Dr. Kadri holds a doctorate in Reactive Extrusion from the Université Louis Pasteur, Strasbourg, France. She earned her engineering diploma grandes-écoles in chemical engineering from l’école des Hauts Polymères de Strasbourg, and she has a masters degree in physics and chemistry from Université Claude Bernard in Lyon and Université Laval in Québec.

Dr. Kadri was shortlisted on the ConstructionWeek magazine ‘Power 100’ list of the most influential personalities in the sustainable Building & Construction sector in the Middle East.

The married mother of one has been recognized and awarded throughout her career for her commitment to mentoring young women and fighting female illiteracy, and for promoting female leadership in the field of science, engineering and business, particularly in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and throughout the Middle East and Africa regions. She was recently featured in a book entitled “The Power of Women”, along with 60 other female role models from all over the world. Proceeds from the book will be donated to educational projects to empower young girls and women.
