A study has been launched by DG Environment in
the framework of the review of the large combustion Plants
Directive. The objective of this study is to contribute to
the implementation of the preparation of the review of Directive
2001/80/EC. This review will include an assessment of:
- the need for further measures
- the amounts of heavy metals emitted by the LCP's
- the cost-effectiveness and costs and advantages of
further emission reductions in the combustion plants sector
compared to other sector
- the technical and economic feasibility of such emission
reductions
- the effects of both the standards set for the LCP's
sector including the provisions for indigenous solid fuels,
and the competition situation in the energy market, on the
environment and internal market.
The work has been launched end-2003, the final report
is expected before end-2004. More information can be found
