Setting up the wood to energy supply chain in Transylvania (MOFRER)

The project will develop on Transylvanian territory a wood energy supply chain, based on experience of the Wood Energy Plans in Belgium and France. The first step will be a diagnosis, and call to projects in the four partner departments (Alba, Cluj, Hunedoara and Arad). The feasibility of six cases will be carried out by the Belgian and French partners according to the methodology used in their Wood-Energy Plans. The combination of wood with other types of energy (renewable or fossil) will also be studied. A further evaluation will be carried out in the partner departments by comparing them with three reference counties in order to estimate the impact of a Wood-Energy Plan. Awareness campaigns will help local energy agencies to be created in order to aware to the importance of energy management in Romania. The project will evaluate the potential of transposition in the new Member States and will propose an up to date and efficient methodology to install Wood-Energy Plan.

Results

  • Structuring of the wood-energy chain : Diagnostic then technical assistance in structuring of the wood-energy chain in Romania (training course, round-table conferences).
  • Building up local/regional awareness : Explain the energy diagnosis, present actions of small scale RE implementation in France and in Belgium. Communication actions relative to the project.
  • Feasability : At least 6 technical feasibility studies by ERBE, ALE 08 and the Romanian partners. Presentation of the results at public meetings in Romania. Identification of funding sources for the investments.
