Improving Energy on Competence SME level (IEC-SME)

IEC-SME Project aims to create a standard procedure to Improve Energy Competence on SME-level that is simple, efficient, transnational, sustainable and non-profit oriented. Its main objectives are: • To enable business support organizations to provide energy related support to their regional SME-base through trained staff. • To implement a targeted (benchmarking) process supporting SME to understand their energy performance and to draw recommendations for improving needs to be developed. • To create a sustainable database of sector specific SME energy performance data – the energy performance index EPI – which will be the starting point of a monitoring progress. • To find opportunities for SME to improve their energy performance by getting involved in the benchmarking process will have to provide for a critical mass of SME. • To provide greater visibility for best practices in achieving improvements of SME energy performance and benefits resulting from them.

Results

  • 4 sustainable training modules
  • 3 training events; training and certification of at least 25 trainees
  • A Benchmarking mechanism for 5 industry sectors
  • 220 SME’s energy performance reports; 7 regional partner reports; 5 regional reports
  • Website, quarterly newsletter, several brochures and transnational dissemination meetings and seminars

  • Strategic projects involving SMEs in different EU regions are needed to improve their competence in energy
