SET Plan conference 2016

The SET Plan 2016 - Central European Energy' Conference X  will be held in Bratislava from 30 November to 2 December 2016 and will create a prestigious international platform for open discussion on key issues regarding energy policy in the EU with a special focus on research and innovation policy. Each year the Conference attracts high level delegates and stakeholders from the public sphere, research community and industry from all over Europe. Its aim is to improve the visibility of the Energy Union strategy, looking specifically at the progress made last year under its research and innovation pillar. This will include the presentation of the achievements of the SET-Plan following last year's Communication ''Towards an Integrated SET-Plan''.

The conference will be held back-to-back with the Networking4Innovation Matchmaking project as well as several other workshops discussing options for the transition to a low-carbon economy, thereby placing research and innovation in the energy sector at the heart of the Slovak Presidency of the Council of the EU.

The conference will be opened by Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President of the European Commission for the Energy Union, Andrej Kiska, President of the Slovak Republic and Robert Fico, Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic and key note speeches will be delivered by Carlos Moedas, Commissioner for R&I, European Commission and Markku Markkula, President of the European Committee of the Regions. Closing key note speeches will be delivered by Miguel Arias Cañete, Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy and Peter Plavčan, Minister of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic while Dominique Ristori, Director-General for Energy at the European Commission will draw Conference conclusions.
